Painting Kasi in Candy ... Colours

Redbull Box Cart Race

Attended my first Redbull Box Cart Race, this year it was the first one to be held ekasi, Soweto Diepkloof, Extreme Park on the 24th Sept. One word for you, 'totally awesome'oh two. Had tons of fun in the sun...and have no complaints loved it saw beautiful people the spirit of Phillip came alive all over again. From the "I'm too cool not to be wearing my shades to the glamazons, the wacky, the fabulous the I think I'm fabulous and the I was just walking by and saw some activity, to the where is your momma looking child and also wannabees and the hasbeens". The Carts were wacky, weird and some show offs, one resembled the much talked about BRT another in form of the Gautrain which by the way was slower than a snail and one that paid homage to the kasi sneaker All Star Converse some creations were just too much for the track whilst others literally had a bath tub as their cart. They are here! Phillip, Zakumi and Jabulani

Yep it's the soccer world cup and yes this blog is about it so what? I, like other South African citizens, organisations and retailers are taken by the soccer frenzy. Alicia Keys who sang more songs than the other performers was not that aaaamaazing, Knaan sang one of the many world cup anthems Wave your flag (Coca Cola jingle). The Blk Jcks rocked with just one song, Vusi Mahlasela was irrelevant, Another anthem was done by Freshly Ground and Shakira Waka Waka..honestly not sure which song awas the official song, Rkelly also did his with the Soweto spiritual Singers..Sign of a victory. "Debut Walk"

This is my first strut, hips swaying, knees sturdy, lip pouting, dust raising walk.. There's a song playing in my head been trying to shut it out but with no success its 'thing about love' by Alicia Keys and it reminds me of all the things I love; buttons, colour, headbands, liquorice (actually having some as I write), trend spotting and front row seats to any occasion.I love Pretty young things like me and go getter's , love my hometown Soweto like crazy hence the Name "dusty streets". Enough about that and here's to living life abundantly , style, beauty, substance and hustling.
